Melty Cheese Meatball & Mash Casserole

Today I have a recipe that the whole family will love! Juicy meatballs, fluffy mashed potatoes, and irresistible melted cheeses that bake into a golden crust no one can resist. This is one of those dishes that fill the house with the most comforting aromas and make you impatient to sit at the table. A meal that brings smiles to both kids and adults. 🛒 Ingredients
For the Meatballs
- 🥩 1 kg ground beef
- 🧅 2 onions, finely chopped
- 🌿 1 cup parsley, chopped
- 🍞 50 g breadcrumbs
- 🥚 1 egg
- 🌶️ 1 tsp paprika
- 🧄 1 tsp garlic powder (optional)
- 🧂 Salt & pepper
For the Mash
- 🥔 1 kg potatoes
- 🧈 30 g butter
- 🥛 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 🌿 1/2 cup fresh dill, chopped
- 🧂 Salt & pepper
For the Sauce
- 🍅 50 g tomato sauce
- 🫒 25 g olive oil
- 🌿 1 tsp dried oregano
- 🧂 Salt & pepper
For the Top
- 🧀 150 g shredded cheese of your choice
👩🍳 Preparation
For the Meatballs
Chop the onions and parsley, add to the ground beef with all other ingredients.
Mix well until combined and refrigerate until ready to use.
For the Mash
Peel & chop the potatoes, boil in salted water until soft.
Drain, mash while hot, and mix with butter, cream, dill, salt & pepper.
Spread the mash evenly in a baking dish.
For the Sauce

Mix tomato sauce, olive oil, oregano, salt & pepper.
Spread over the mash.
Shape & Bake 🔥
Shape the meat mixture into meatballs and place them on top of the sauce.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 30 minutes.
Make It Cheesy! 🧀

Remove from oven and sprinkle with cheese.
Bake for another 5 minutes until melted and golden.
💡 Tips & Tricks
- ✨ If the ground beef is lean, for extra tender meatballs, soak the breadcrumbs in a little milk before mixing.
- 🧄 Love garlic? Use fresh minced garlic instead of powder for a stronger flavor.
- 🧀 Mix different cheeses (like mozzarella + gruyère) for a richer, gooey topping.
- 🥘 You can assemble this dish the night before, cover it, and bake it the next day.
